What is the
Cumbria Talent Force?
We think our greatest asset in Cumbria is our young people and it is everyone’s responsibility to nurture and inspire them.
This is the driver for launching the Cumbria Talent Force, a group of young people (18-35) who have come together to share their experiences with students in our schools and colleges.
Cumbria has some incredibly talented young people who have been educated in Cumbria and now work for one of our organisations in the county, whether that is a large company with thousands of employees, a charitable organisation, one of our many small and micro businesses or run their own business.
“I can see it – I can be it”
It can be hard for us to imagine life after school or college, especially when we are faced with so many options. To have someone who is relatable (went to their school, lives near them and is close in age) can help to inspire and guide them.
That’s where you come in.
Our AIM
We want to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions and raise the aspirations of the next generation to achieve a fulfilling future career within Cumbria.
In Cumbria’s ever changing labour market it is important that young people are aware of the many growth sectors and the vast array of associated careers so that they can make informed decisions about their future career path. The Talent Force will be a valuable resource for schools to call upon to highlight the vast and diverse array of career opportunities within Cumbria and bring careers education within schools to life.
Our AMBITION
Every school in Cumbria will have an alumni of Talent Force members that they can contact when they require support with careers education and Talent Force members can help in a wide variety of ways depending on their capacity and available time.
From being a case study on a poster placed in a relevant subject area, project work, delivering talks and assemblies, we believe the Cumbria Talent Force will help to bring schools, colleges and employers together to help young people drive the future growth of Cumbria.
